Mind Mapping that Bolsters One’s Career

“For clarity, put it in writing.” This idea can be carried over to achieving career goals through mind mapping. Sheila Viesca, TalkShop CEO reiterates, “Mind mapping your goals crystallizes your plans. Once written, these are transformed into something tangible, that can spur one to action. The added benefit is one can review goals to keep track of progress.”

She offers pointers on how to go about mind mapping your career plans:

1. Write down in the center of a sheet of paper your current position, job, functions, roles.

2. Create branches to represent the following main ideas and fill in your inputs, such as your core values, boundaries, competencies, desired strengths, investment plan, role models, target employers and clients.

3. Include your vision for yourself. Set strategies on how to realize these.

Viesca sums up, “Mind mapping records your journey to personal development, rallying your strengths, spurring you on to self-improvement through creativity that need to be reinforced with action.”

“Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now”- Alan Lakein quotes
